Ingredients

  • 1 pound dry small red beans
  • 1 teaspoon bacon grease
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 pound diced ham
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
  • 2-3 tablespoons creole seasoning (i use tony chachere's)
  • 3 - bay leaves
  • - hot cooked white rice

How To Make crock pot red beans and rice

  • Step 1
    Soak beans overnight.
  • Step 2
    Rinse beans and put in the crock pot and cover with water. Add all chopped celery and onion, garlic & onion powder, creole seasoning, bacon grease bay leaves. Turn slow cooker on high.
  • Step 3
    Cook beans for 3-4 hours. Add smoked sausage and ham.
  • Step 4
    Turn the heat to low and cook for another hour or so until beans are tender and liquid has thickened.
  • Step 5
    Ladle red beans over hot cooked white rice.
