You can fill this bowl with anything that you would normally serve with potatoes. Some suggestions are: • Use it as a crust for a quiche. • Fill it with some yummy scrambled eggs. • Sauté some chicken, and serve in the bowl with a light sauce. • Cook up some ground beef and onions, and dump them in. • Some sautéed veggies would be nice. • It is totally up to you… Have some fun with it.

You can use frozen or fresh hash browns for this recipe; however, whichever you choose, make sure that most of the moisture is squeezed out of them.

For this recipe, you will need a mini spring-form pan. You can find them on Amazon, or you could probable pick some up at Walmart, or a Dollar Store. The ones that I use are 5 inches (12.7cm) by 1.5 inches (3.8cm).
  • 5
Gather your Ingredients (mise en place).
  • 6
Place a rack in the middle position, and preheat the oven to 400f (205c).
  • 7
Take some butter or oil, and grease the inside of the spring-form pan.
  • 8
Mix the hash browns, cheese, and melted butter together in a small bowl, and then salt and pepper, to taste.
  • 9
Chef’s Note: If you want to add other spices, now is the time to do it.
  • 10
Place the hash browns in the spring form pan, and push them into the bottom, and up the sides.
  • 11
Chef’s Note: When these hash browns cook, they will shrink by 20 – 30 percent. So, pack those hash browns in there.
  • 12
Bake until it begins to crisp up, about 25 – 30 minutes.
