1 large
1 lb
lean ground beef or turkey/chicken
onion peeled and grated
1/2 c
rice (uncooked)
1/2 c
1/4 c
1 Tbsp
lemon juice
tin 28 oz. tomatoes

How to Make Cabbage Rolls


  • 1Remove core from cabbage and set into boiling water for 15 minutes to loosens leaves.
  • 2Mix together meat, onion, rice, water, egg and sugar. Mix well.
  • 3Remove leaves from cabbage. Put meat mixture in center of each leaf. Roll up and secure with a toothpick.
  • 4Put into a large pan and cover with tomatoes and lemon juice.
  • 5Simmer for 2 hours adding more tomato juice or tomatoes if needed. Cook at 350
