This was an easy and popular dish when our kids were growing up. Served with picante sauce alongside a pot of beans it's always been well received by teenagers and adults alike. The amount of tortilla chips and cheese can be adjusted to individual tastes. We like a pretty thick layer of each!

Ingredients

  • 1 med pkg - salted corn tortilla chips
  • 2 pounds lean hamburger
  • 1/2 - onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 can - cream of mushroom soup (10 3/4 oz)
  • 1 can - cream of chicken soup (10 3/4 oz)
  • 1 can - mild enchilada sauce (10 oz)
  • 1 can - chopped green chiles (4 oz)
  • 1 cup - milk
  • 3 cups - cheddar cheese, grated

How To Make tex mex taco casserole

  • Step 1
    Line 9x13 baking pan with Doritos, pressing down to flatten slightly.
  • Step 2
    Brown hamburger in skillet along with onion and garlic. Mix in soups, sauce, chilies, and milk. Pour or spoon meat mixture over chips in dish. Cover with cheese.
  • Step 3
    Bake at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes, or until cheese browns slightly.
