this is a very easy and cheap recipe with few ingredients but it tastes wonderful.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds dryed pinto beans
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 1 pound ham steak
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce or tobasco
  • 2 tablespoons ham seasoning or bouillion
  • 1 package flour tortillas

How To Make pinto beans and ham

  • Step 1
    clean and soak beans for an hour. put soaked beans into large cooking pot and fill pot 2/3rds full of water. Cook until slightly tender. Add ham seasoning to beans. Cook until almost tender. Cut up ham steak into bite size chunks( you can use more than a lb.) if you like more meat in your dishes.Cook another 20 minutes longer. Add the tomato paste and hot sauce. Cook a little longer until juice begins to thicken some. Should be about the consistency of tomato soup or slightly thicker. Serve with toasted tortillas,by browning the tortillas until crispy in hot oil in large frying pan.Use the tortillas to scoop up the bean mixture. Season with more hot sauce or tobasco if you like your food spicey.
