This is a meatless sauce recipe that can be used in numerous ways. It's made with leftover beef stock from cooking a roast in the crockpot.

Ingredients

  • CHILI SAUCE
  • 8 cups beef stock from roast, add a little water to make 8 c. if necessary
  • 1/4 cup catsup, no salt added
  • 1 teaspoon bold & spicy mustard
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 4 teaspoons chili powder
  • 4 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons granulated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon granulated onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano, dried
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse sea salt, opt
  • - masa harina

How To Make chili sauce

  • Step 1
    In a large pot add 8 c. of beef stock, all ingredients except masa. Simmer for 20 min. Taste, adjust any seasonings as needed.
  • Step 2
    TO THICKEN: In a small bowl place 1 1/2 c. of chili sauce, add 1/2 c. masa, mix well to dissolve any clumps, add back to sauce. Simmer for a few till thickened, repeat this step if thicker chili sauce is desired.
