My favorite thing to make especially when I am feeling lazy. Very flavorful and healthy.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 - yellow onion, chopped
  • 4 - chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • - seasoning salt
  • - onion powder
  • 1/2 cup picante sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 can chiles, canned and mild
  • 8-10 - taco shells
  • - cilantro, fresh
  • - sour cream
  • - cheese, shredded
  • - salsa (any)

How To Make chicken tacos

  • Step 1
    Heat oil in a large skillet. Saute onions on medium-high heat for a couple of minutes, place chicken breast on top of the onions and season lightly with seasoning salt and onion powder.
  • Step 2
    Pour picante sauce on top of the chicken. Then pour water in the skillet(not over the chicken). Bring to a simmer cover and let cook for 30-45 min. Adding more water if needed so that chicken does not stick to the skillet.
  • Step 3
    Shred chicken then continue to cook until the water is gone the chicken starts to sizzle in the skillet. Add garlic and chiles cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  • Step 4
    Heat taco shells assemble with cilantro, salsa, cheese and sour cream.
