Ingredients

canola oil

yellow onion, chopped

chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
seasoning salt
onion powder
1/2 c
picante sauce
1/2 c
water
3 clove
garlic
1 can(s)
chiles, canned and mild
8-10
taco shells
cilantro, fresh
sour cream
cheese, shredded
salsa (any)

How to Make Chicken Tacos

Step-by-Step

  • 1Heat oil in a large skillet. Saute onions on medium-high heat for a couple of minutes, place chicken breast on top of the onions and season lightly with seasoning salt and onion powder.
  • 2Pour picante sauce on top of the chicken. Then pour water in the skillet(not over the chicken). Bring to a simmer cover and let cook for 30-45 min. Adding more water if needed so that chicken does not stick to the skillet.
  • 3Shred chicken then continue to cook until the water is gone the chicken starts to sizzle in the skillet. Add garlic and chiles cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  • 4Heat taco shells assemble with cilantro, salsa, cheese and sour cream.
