Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp
    canola oil
  • 1
    yellow onion, chopped
  • 4
    chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • ·
    seasoning salt
  • ·
    onion powder
  • 1/2 c
    picante sauce
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 3 clove
    garlic
  • 1 can(s)
    chiles, canned and mild
  • 8-10
    taco shells
  • ·
    cilantro, fresh
  • ·
    sour cream
  • ·
    cheese, shredded
  • ·
    salsa (any)

How to Make Chicken Tacos

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet. Saute onions on medium-high heat for a couple of minutes, place chicken breast on top of the onions and season lightly with seasoning salt and onion powder.
  2. Pour picante sauce on top of the chicken. Then pour water in the skillet(not over the chicken). Bring to a simmer cover and let cook for 30-45 min. Adding more water if needed so that chicken does not stick to the skillet.
  3. Shred chicken then continue to cook until the water is gone the chicken starts to sizzle in the skillet. Add garlic and chiles cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  4. Heat taco shells assemble with cilantro, salsa, cheese and sour cream.
