This is a quick and easy red pasta sauce and so much tastier than a bottled one! You can replace the sausage for hamburger meat, but my family prefers the sausage. Add it to spaghetti, penne, lasagna, or your favorite cooked pasta. It's yummy, give it a try!

italian sausage, mild
yellow onion (optional)
29 oz. tomato puree
14 1/2 oz. diced tomatoes with garlic & olive oil
8 oz. tomato sauce with basil, garlic, oregano
tomato paste with roasted garlic, small
sliced olives, small
How To Make nonni's red pasta sauce with italian sausage
In a large sauté pan, crumble and brown Italian sausage.
Add diced yellow onion, if using.
Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
Stir intermittently, about every 10 minutes.
Simmer on low for at least 30 minutes, but an hour and a half is best!
Mix with spaghetti, penne, lasagna, or your favorite cooked pasta.
Top with parmesan cheese and serve with crusty garlic bread and green salad. And if you like wine, it pairs well with a red!
