The original concept to cook pasta in one dish came from a box of pasta, but the ingredients I chose to use was totally my own. I had never seen or heard of Mountain Dew being used to cook pasta, so I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could create a dish worthy of my husbands approval. This dish did not disappoint. Cooking everything in one pot is a time saver, plus when you are finished it creates a very impressive looking dish, and taste so delicious. Using fully cooked meat Balls helps also. I wanted to make something easy, tasty and a time saver, this dish was the perfect solution.

How To Make mountain dew spaghetti & meat balls supreme

  • Step 1
Chop the garlic, onions and green bell pepper into a rough chop, and then add to a very large pot with the extra virgin olive oil.
  • Step 2
Some of the main ingredients to create this delicious pasta dish.
  • Step 3
Saute veggies over medium high heat for 5 to 7 minutes, until almost tender.
  • Step 4
Add in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, and frozen meat balls. Allow to cook over medium high heat about 15 minutes.
  • Step 5
Then add in the undrained sliced mushrooms, both cans of Mountain Dew soda, basil and Italian Seasoning, stir to blend together & bring to a boil over medium high heat.
  • Step 6
Now add in the broken pasta, and stir to mix together, keeping pasta separated as it cooks. Using a very large spoon, I used a wooden spoon, Stir about every 5 minutes from bottom of pot to the top, carefully separating the pasta each time, as it continues to cook. Will need to cook about 15-20 minutes, or as desired.
  • Step 7
Once pasta is cooked as desired, stir in the freshly shredded cheese, and stir till it is well mixed & melted.
  • Step 8
Add pasta to very large serving dish and top with additional shredded cheese and chopped green onion tops or parsley or fresh shredded leaves if desired, and serve immediately while still hot. Note you can easily cut this recipe in half, I thought I would have lots left over, but barely had enough for the second day.
