This was the very first dish I cooked with my husband Tracy. We fix this meal every year in the middle of December to remember our special day. It was this dish that paved the way to my love for cooking.

Ingredients For love spaghetti casserole

  • 1/2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 2 c
    chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 2
    garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 c
    dry red wine
  • 1/4 c
    water
  • 3/4 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 can
    stewed tomatoes, undrained
  • 1/4 c
    flour
  • 2 c
    1% milk
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 1 c
    crumbled feta cheese
  • 2 Tbsp
    grated parmesan cheese, divided
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • 2 Tbsp
    dry breadcrumbs
  • cooking spray
  • 4 c
    cooked spaghetti (about 8 oz uncooked)
  • fresh oregano sprigs

How To Make love spaghetti casserole

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

    Heat large nonstick skillet over med-high heat. Add first 4 ingredients, saute 5 minutes. Add wine and next 6 ingredients (wine through tomatoes). Bring mixture to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer 10 minutes or until thick.

    Combine flour, milk, and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg in a medium sauce pan, bring to boil. Reduce heat, cook 7 minutes or until thick, stirring constantly. Remove mixture from heat. Stir in feta cheese, 1T Parmesan cheese, and egg.

    Sprinkle 1T breadcrumbs in a casserole dish coated with cooking spray. Place 1/2 the portion of spaghetti in casserole dish, top with 1/2 the beef mixture and 1/2 the white sauce. Repeat layer. Combine 1T Parmesan cheese and 1T breadcrumbs. Sprinkle over top Bake at 375 for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh oregano.
