This quick and easy dish is an old standby. Kids love it too. It's another one that's easy to make substitutions with too. In place of the tuna, try browned ground beef, canned salmon, or canned chicken.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cup peas
  • 6 1/2 ounces water packed tuna, drained
  • 2-4 slices whole grain bread, toasted

How To Make creamed tuna and peas

  • Step 1
    Over medium heat, melt butter in a large skillet. Stir in the flour. Add the milk and stir to combine.
  • Step 2
    Add the peas and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes until peas are tender.
  • Step 3
    Stir in the tuna, heat through, serve over toast.
