baked breaded fish fillets
This is a dish that I make often because it's tasty, easy, and doesn't leave my house smelling like oil for 2 days! Don't expect the same color and crispiness of deep-fried fish, but it is a really good, tasty alternative. My family loves it.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds white fish fillets
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon herbs of choice (i prefer thyme or oregano)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (or more to taste)
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons grated parmesan (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika, cayenne pepper, allspice, white pepper, or other dried herbs (optional)
- 1 stick butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
How To Make baked breaded fish fillets
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 500°F. (400°F or more) Grease a shallow baking dish (enough to hold all fish without overcrowding).
-
Step 2Pat the fish fillets dry with kitchen paper. Season the fillets with salt and pepper to taste (do not overdo it because the coating is seasoned as well).
-
Step 3In a bowl, mix all dry ingredients (bread crumbs + seasoning + herbs + cheese). In another bowl, mix the melted butter with the lemon juice.
-
Step 4Dip the fish fillets in the butter/lemon mixture.
-
Step 5Then, in the bread crumbs mixture. Place fillets in a greased baking pan.
-
Step 6Bake uncovered at 500°F for 10-15 minutes, or until fish flakes easily with a fork (depends on fish type and thickness).
-
Step 7**I like to drizzle some olive oil or put few butter nobs on the fillets before baking them, so that the bread crumbs become crispier and more golden.
