Ingredients

  • 1 - tender stewing chicken
  • 1/2 cup - seasoned flour
  • 1/2 cup - butter
  • 3 - cups boiling water
  • 1 - small onion
  • 1 - carrot, diced
  • 1 - stalk of celery, diced
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup - sour cream
  • 1 TBS - flour

How To Make ukrainian stewed chicken

  • Step 1
    Cut chicken into serving pieces and coat with the seasoned flour
  • Step 2
    Lightly brown in the butter and place into a roasting pan
  • Step 3
    Add the boiling water, cover and cook in a 300 degree oven for 1 hour
  • Step 4
    Add the veggies and seasoning and continue cooking 1 to 11/2 or till tender
  • Step 5
    Blend the flour with the sour cream* and add to the chicken the last 1/2 hour of cooking
  • Step 6
    * I find blending a tablespoon of the hot broth to the blended sour cream and flour helps eliminate curdling and repeat the addition of hot broth until it pours nicely.
  • Step 7
