I got this recipe from a friend who is from the south, and she swears this is the best way to fry chicken. I agree!!

  • 3 c
    self rising flour
  • 1 c
  • 3 Tbsp
    seasoned salt, like lawrys
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 pkg
    envelope dry italian dressing mix
  • 2 oz
    dry onion soup mix
  • 1/2 oz
    pkg dry spaghetti mix
  • 3 Tbsp
  • 3 c
    crushed cornflakes
  • 2
  • 1/4 c
  • 4 lb
    various chicken parts, like legs, drumsticks, etc.

How to Make The best fried chicken yet


  1. Heat oven to 350. Spray a 9" x 13" baking pan w/ cooking spray. In lg shallow bowl, combine 1st 9 ingredients.
  2. In another shallow bowl, beat eggs w/ water. Place 1' of canola or peanut oil in lg deep skillet, heat over med-high heat. Dip each chicken piece into dry coating mix, then into egg mix, then into cornflake mix, and once again into dry coating mix.
  3. Fry chicken, ( do not crowd the pan,) 4 mins each side. Place chicken in pan, skin side up. Place foil over most of the pan, leaving a little opening to let out steam. Bake 40 mins. Remove foil, bake 5 mins more.
