    scallions
  • 1 Tbsp
    grated peeled fresh ginger
  • 2
    garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 Tbsp
    honey
  • 2 tsp
    reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp
    sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    red pepper flakes
  • 3 1/2 lb
    chicken, giblets discarded

How to Make Smoky Ginger-Scallion Chicken

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Finely chop 4 scallions. Mix together chopped scallions, ginger, garlic, honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper flakes in small bowl. Slip your fingers under skin of chicken over breast, thighs, and legs to loosen skin. Rub scallion mixture into meat under skin. Tuck wings under; tie legs together with kitchen string.
  3. Place chicken in roasting pan. Cook for 1 hour and 15 minutes until internal temperature reaches 180 degrees.
