I love this chicken, but wanted to make it in the slow cooker and found a way..so yummy. Worth the wait1

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

  • 2 lb
    chicken breasts, cut into cubes
  • 1 c
    cornstarch,divided
  • 1/2 tsp
    each, salt and pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    sesame oil, can use canola oil
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    light soy sauce
  • 1/2 c
    unsweetened pineapple juice
  • 1/3 c
    apple cider vinegar
  • 4 tsp
    minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1/3 c
    chopped scallions
  • 2 c
    cooked broccoli florets, prefer steamed
  • 1-1/2 c
    cooked white rice, can use brown rice

How to Make Slow-cooked general tso's chicken

Step-by-Step

  1. In shallow bowl, combine 3/4 cup cornstarch, salt and pepper. Dip chicken cubes into cornstarch mix. Heat oil in lg skillet, over med-high heat.
  2. Brown chicken. remove chicken from pan. In slow-cooker combine, sugar, soy sauce, pineapple juice, vinegar, garlic, cayenne pepper and giner, mix well.
  3. Add chicken. Cover, cook on low for 4 hrs. If sauce isn't thick enough, combine remaining cornstarch w/ 1/4 cup water and stir into pot until thickened. Serve over rice and broccoli.
