I love this chicken, but wanted to make it in the slow cooker and found a way..so yummy. Worth the wait1

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken breasts, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup cornstarch,divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon each, salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil, can use canola oil
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup light soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened pineapple juice
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 4 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/3 cup chopped scallions
  • 2 cups cooked broccoli florets, prefer steamed
  • 1-1/2 cup cooked white rice, can use brown rice

How To Make slow-cooked general tso's chicken

  • Step 1
    In shallow bowl, combine 3/4 cup cornstarch, salt and pepper. Dip chicken cubes into cornstarch mix. Heat oil in lg skillet, over med-high heat.
  • Step 2
    Brown chicken. remove chicken from pan. In slow-cooker combine, sugar, soy sauce, pineapple juice, vinegar, garlic, cayenne pepper and giner, mix well.
  • Step 3
    Add chicken. Cover, cook on low for 4 hrs. If sauce isn't thick enough, combine remaining cornstarch w/ 1/4 cup water and stir into pot until thickened. Serve over rice and broccoli.
