I made this recipe about a good 35 yrs ago. There is a story behind it... I was living in Ithaca, NY and next door to me were a bunch of Frat boys from Cornell U that would ask me to cook things for their parties. Once it was the hottest chili they could get and they got it too! This time they wanted Hot chicken wings but not the norm ie: Buffalo hot wings. So I mixed the Hot sauce with the Lemon Herb recipe that I had and it was an amazingly HUGE hit with the Frat boys who asked for this dish numerous times. Those in my family that love hot wings love this recipe too!

Oh my... these are really good wings. I loved the hot lemon flavor. I dipped them twice to have medium heat and it was just right for the Test Kitchen tasters. Yum-my! Test Kitchen Avatar The Test Kitchen

How to Make Linda's Hot Lemon-Herb Chicken Wings

Step-by-Step

  1. Cook wings by deep-frying at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Take a cookie sheet and line it with parchment paper
  2. Mix all ingredients above in a medium-sized bowl.
As wings finish deep frying, place about 6 wings in the sauce, stir around a bit and spoon out to lay on the cookie sheet with parchment paper in a single layer. They can be as close together as you like.
  3. NOTE: Depending on HOW HOT that you want your wings... keep in mind the following:
    Dip once for mild
    Dip twice for medium
Dip 3 or more times for HOT
  4. Once you are finished deep-frying your wings and all the wings are on your cookie sheet, you can spoon additional sauce over the wings on the cookie sheet and place it in the oven preheated to 350 degrees for 5 to 10 minutes. Enjoy!
