country style scalloped potatoes and ham

This is from my Mom's old Fannie Farmer cookbook from the 1960's. I adapted it for the crockpot. Super easy and very good.

Ingredients

  • 2 - large russet potatoes, sliced thin
  • 1/2 - large sweet onion, chopped
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 pound cooked ham, chopped
  • 1 stick butter
  • - flour
  • - salt
  • - pepper
  • - milk

How To Make country style scalloped potatoes and ham

  • Step 1
    melt 2T butter in bottom of crockpot
  • Step 2
    layer 1/3 of the sliced potatoes, 1/3 of the chopped onion, 1/3 of the shredded cheese in crockpot.
  • Step 3
    Sprinkle flour, salt, pepper and 2T butter over 1st layer
  • Step 4
    repeat layering all of the above for a total of 3 layers
  • Step 5
    add enough milk until you see the milk show through the top layer.
  • Step 6
    Heat on high in crockpot until the milk simmers, then reduce to low for 6 hours
