I wanted a mac and cheese that was cheesy enough for me and me dad. So i made a roux and went from there.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups macaroni, elbow
  • 16 tablespoons butter, cold (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 8 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • pinch black pepper
  • 2 cups french fried onions, crushed (opt.)
  • 1 bag shredded cheese, any kind

How To Make amanda's baked macaroni and cheese

  • Step 1
    Pre-heat oven to 400
  • Step 2
    Melt butter in large pot. Then add flour, salt, and pepper. Stir until mixed.
  • Step 3
    Add milk and desired amount of cheese. Stir until until cheese melt and then take off heat.
  • Step 4
    In another pot, cook the macaroni. when done, strain and add macaroni to cheese. Mix together.
  • Step 5
    Place mixture in greased baking pan (Opt: Top with crushed onions)
  • Step 6
    Bake in oven for 20 minutes
