I wanted a mac and cheese that was cheesy enough for me and me dad. So i made a roux and went from there.

  • 4 c
    macaroni, elbow
  • 16 Tbsp
    butter, cold (2 sticks)
  • 1 c
  • 8 c
  • 2 tsp
  • pinch
    black pepper
  • 2 c
    french fried onions, crushed (opt.)
  • 1 bag(s)
    shredded cheese, any kind

How to Make Amanda's Baked Macaroni and Cheese


  1. Pre-heat oven to 400
  2. Melt butter in large pot. Then add flour, salt, and pepper. Stir until mixed.
  3. Add milk and desired amount of cheese. Stir until until cheese melt and then take off heat.
  4. In another pot, cook the macaroni. when done, strain and add macaroni to cheese. Mix together.
  5. Place mixture in greased baking pan (Opt: Top with crushed onions)
  6. Bake in oven for 20 minutes
