I have had this recipe for over 35 years. I never have figured why they are called spoonburgers, but they really are good.

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 tablespoon flour
1 cup tomato ketchup
1/4 cup chili sauce
1 tablespoon worchestershire sauce
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
8 hamburger buns, split and toasted

How to Make Spoonburgers


  • 1Preheat large skillet over medium heat for 3 minutes. Add ground beef and brown for about 5 minutes.
  • 2Add onion and celery and saute for 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in flour.
  • 3Add ketchup, chili sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and chili powder. Stir to combine.
  • 4Cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • 5Spoon mixture onto toasted buns and serve.
