Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 pounds ground chuck
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, minced
  • 2 tablespoons scallions, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine
  • 3/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 4 teaspoons fresh parsley, minced
  • 4 teaspoons parmesan cheese

How To Make salisbury steak like mom used to make

  • Step 1
    Combine ground chuck, parsley, scallion, salt and pepper in a medium bowl. Divide evenly into 4 portions and shape each into oval patties. Place 2 Tbsp. flour in a shallow dish; dredge each patty in the flour. Reserve 1 tsp. flour.
  • Step 2
    Heat 1 Tbsp. oil in a saute pan over medium-high heat. Add patties and saute 3 minutes on each side or until browned. Remove from pan.
  • Step 3
    Add onions and sugar to pan; saute for 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic and tomato paste; saute 1 minute, or until paste begins to brown.
  • Step 4
    Sprinkle the onions with reserved flour; cook 1 minute. Stir in broth and wine, then add the salt and thyme.
  • Step 5
    Return meat to pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover and simmer 10 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Serve over mashed potatoes or noodles.
