I make chili many different ways, but this is my favorite go to recipe that I learned from my grandmother Swecker. She never wrote it down, I just watched her make it and paid attention to detail. I have changed it a bit over the years.

Ingredients For my favorite chili recipe

  • 2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 lg
    onion, diced
  • 1 lg
    green pepper, diced
  • 3 clove
    garlic, diced
  • 2
    ribs of celery, fixed
  • 6 c
    tomato juice
  • 1
    28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
  • 2
    14.5 oz of fire roasted tomatoes
  • 2 Tbsp
    medium heat chili powder
  • 1 tsp
    chipotle powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 sm
    bag of pinto beans cooked or 4 cans rinsed

How To Make my favorite chili recipe

    Brown ground beef, when cooked add green peppers and onions and simmer for 10 minutes until tender.

    Rinse Pinto beans and place into a large dutch oven.
  • 3
    Add all other ingredients to the pinto beans and simmer for 90 minutes so that the flavors combine. Enjoy!
