I make chili many different ways, but this is my favorite go to recipe that I learned from my grandmother Swecker. She never wrote it down, I just watched her make it and paid attention to detail. I have changed it a bit over the years.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 large
    onion, diced
  • 1 large
    green pepper, diced
  • 3 clove
    garlic, diced
  • 2
    ribs of celery, fixed
  • 6 c
    tomato juice
  • 1
    28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
  • 2
    14.5 oz of fire roasted tomatoes
  • 2 Tbsp
    medium heat chili powder
  • 1 tsp
    chipotle powder
  • ·
    salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 small
    bag of pinto beans cooked or 4 cans rinsed

How to Make My favorite Chili Recipe

Step-by-Step

  1. Brown ground beef, when cooked add green peppers and onions and simmer for 10 minutes until tender.
  2. Rinse Pinto beans and place into a large dutch oven.
  3. Add all other ingredients to the pinto beans and simmer for 90 minutes so that the flavors combine.

    Enjoy!
