This recipe was taken from "Cooking with Country Music Stars" published in 1986. It has different recipes from different Country Music Stars, this one was from Mel Tillis.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef brisket
  • - salt and pepper
  • - vegetable oil
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 - cabbage head

How To Make mel tillis' corned beef & cabbage

  • Step 1
    Salt and pepper brisket. Brown in oil in skillet over high heat. Place water in pressure cooker. Now place the brisket in the cooker and let pressure rise to 15 lb./sq. inch or 1.05 kg./sq. cm. When pressure is built, time for 45 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Quarter the cabbage and place on top of brisket after cooking brisket 45 minutes. Add additional water, if necessary. Let build up again to same pressure and cook an additional 8 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Note: Always read instructions carefully when using a pressure cooker and follow them closely.
