This is easy to adjust to your taste. If you want it spicier, just add more chili powder or a little crushed red pepper flakes. The ground cumin is what gives this that greate flavor.

How to Make Home Made Chili

Step-by-Step

  1. Saute onion, garlic, and green pepper until translucent.
  2. Add ground beef. Cook until browned.
  3. Put into a large pot and add diced tomatoes, salt, black pepper, chili powder, ground cumin, parsley, basil, and oregano. Over medium heat, bring to a slow boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 2 1/2 hrs. Add kidney beans (with liquid) and simmer for another 30 minutes.
  4. All of the seasonings can be adjusted up or down to taste. You can also use powdered garlic in place of fresh. Just add with the other seasonings (about 1 1/2 tsp.). When adding the diced tomatoes, if it's too thick or thin you can add more or less.
