Ingredients

  • 1 pound 99% fat free turkey or meat of your choice
  • 1 - head of cabbage
  • 1 can 12-15 oz diced tomatoes (i liked the oregano kind from hunts)
  • 5 cans (8 oz a can) or a large can totaling 40 oz of tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup white rice
  • 1 cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • - dash of garlic salt
  • - (add any other seasonings you find you enjoy)

How To Make cabbage rolls

  • Step 1
over high heat, bring a large pot of water to a soft boil. Gently peel your cabbage leaves and place them in the pot to cook for about 5-10 minutes (you may have to do two batches at a time depending on the size of your cabbage head)
  • Step 2
Mean while, start browning your meat over medium heat. Add water, rice, diced tomatoes, seasonings, peppers, onions, and 16 oz of tomato sauce to the meat. Cook until rice is tender or about 10 minutes
  • Step 3
coat the bottom of your baking dish with tomato sauce (I use 8 oz in each dish) drain your cabbage and scoop about 2-3 spoons full of meat mixture into the center. gently roll and place smooth side up in your baking dish. continue until all the leaves are stuffed and rolled.
  • Step 4
pour remaining tomato sauce on top of your cabbage rolls, bake at 350 for about 30 minutes or until your cabbage is tender!
