brad's slow cooker chili

A game day favorite around our house. This chili has been refined over several years, including the addition of a couple of unexpected ingredients - Cocoa and Coffee, but believe me when I tell you, it is one of the best you will ever have! Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground sweet italian sausage - removed from casing
  • 1 - cubanella pepper - seeded and chopped
  • 3 - jalapeno peppers - seeded and chopped
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 stalks celery, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic - minced
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes (14.5 oz) - i like the fire roasted with garlic
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (14.5 oz)
  • 2 cans chile beans - drained
  • 3 tablespoons bacon bits
  • 1 cup beer
  • 4 packages powdered beef bouillon - or cubes
  • 2 tablespoons chile powder
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon minced dried onion
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground coffee

How To Make brad's slow cooker chili

  • Step 1
    Brown first 7 ingredients in a skillet until meat is cooked. Drain and add to Slow Cooker
  • Step 2
    Add all remaining ingredients to slow cooker and cook 4 hrs on High or 6 hours on Low
  • Step 3
    Serve with Shredded Cheddar, Sour Cream and your choice of hot sauce!
