First time I made this I cooked on stove and slightly burnt it but it still tasted okay. I recommend cooking in slow cooker and stirring every hour or so if you can.

prep time 20 Min
cook time 4 Hr
method ---
yield 4 - 6 people

Ingredients

  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 can tomatoes, diced
  • 1 medium green pepper, diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 can mushrooms (or fresh sauteed mushrooms)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder or 2 cloves minced
  • 1 tablespoon italian seasoning (or 1 tsp, each of basil, oregano and parsley), dried (2 tablespoons if fresh)
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1 can tomato paste, small can
  • 1 pound ground beef (optional)
  • 4 large chicken breasts, boneless, skinless (optional)

How To Make spaghetti sauce

  • Step 1
Add all ingredients in a crockpot or stock pot, let simmer for at least 4 hours sauce should have reduced and thickened. Stir often if cooking in stock pot. Stir every hour or so if cooked in crock pot.
  • Step 2
If adding ground beef, brown in medium saucepan until thoroughly cooked through. Rinse under hot water and drain. Then add to the sauce and simmer for another 20 minutes.
  • Step 3
Serve over your favorite pasta. Or use the meatless sauce and simmer skinless, boneless chicken breasts in sauce for about 30 minutes over medium low heat.
