We had a womens group function at church with an Italian pot luck theme. I left it to late to start the dish I had planed to take . Thinking what can I make that's quick. Chilli sounded good ,but Italians don't make chilli. Why not I thought. This is what I came up with. Several of the girls asked for the recipe,so I thought I would share. It's even better the next day.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2lbs pounds ground italian turkey sausage
  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 3 cloves chopped garlic
  • 1 small zuccini, chop in small chunks
  • 2 cans white beans
  • 1 small can of tomatoe sauce
  • 1 large can of stewed tomatoes
  • 1 small can of mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh italian parsley
  • 1 teaspoon each of dried oregano,thyme and basil
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • - salt nd fresh groud black pepper to tast

How To Make italian chilli

  • Step 1
    Brown turkey sausage in a little olive oil until no longer pink. Add finely chopped onion and garlic to pan.cook until onion is transparent.
  • Step 2
    Add chopped zuccini cook a couple of mins ,add drained Mushrooms and can of tomato sauce.Put 3/4 of the can Tomatoes in blender and puree, pour into meat mixture . add rest of tomatoes to pan . Drain the white Beans and add.
  • Step 3
    Add chopped Parsley, oregano, Thyme and basil stir in .add crushed red pepper flakes and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 30 to 45 mins.
  • Step 4
    When serving add a tablespoon or two of grated Parmesan cheese to each bowl, and a slice of crusty Italian Bread. Yum
