This makes so much sauce make sure you have a couple of gallon sized zip lock bags to store the rest.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 - onion
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 4 - 28 oz - cans of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can water
  • 3 - bay leaves
  • 1/2 cup basil, fresh
  • 1 tablespoon oregano, fresh
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • - garlic powder, onion powder,salt and pepper

How To Make homemade marinara sauce

  • Step 1
    Heat oil in large dutch oven. Add onions and salt so that onions don't burn. Cook until the onions are soft. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Step 2
    Pour in tomatoes, 1 can of water, and herbs. Cook for 30 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Season with salt, pepper,sugar, garlic and onion powders.
