This wonderful recipe was given to me by a close friend years ago and it has been a family favorite ever since! Enjoy! :)

  • 1 1/2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 medium
    onion, diced
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp
    fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 2 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp
  • 29 oz
    can petite diced tomatoes
  • 2
    small cans tomato paste
  • 12
    cooked lasagna noodles
  • 2
    eggs, beaten
  • 1 pt
    ricotta cheese, part-skim
  • 2 Tbsp
    dried parsley
  • 1 tsp
  • 2 lb
    shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 c
    fresh grated parmesan cheese

How to Make American Lasagna


  1. Preheat to 375*.
    spray 9x13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Sauce: Brown Ground beef, onion and garlic. Mix in basil, oregano, brown sugar, salt, diced tomatoes and tomato paste. Simmer for 30 minutes
  3. Mix together: eggs, ricotta, ½ cup parmesan cheese, parsley and teaspoon salt.
  4. Lay four noodles in bottom of baking dish. Cover with sauce, ricotta mixture and mozzarella cheese. Repeat until out of noodles. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and sprinkle with remaining grated parmesan cheese. Serve with Italian salad and crusty garlic bread or bread sticks.
