This is the base for a do your own thing meal. You could use a different fish. Or add more vegetables. I often add snowpeas, sliced carrots and/or bean sproats.
I used to serve it with rice but now that I'm trying to keep low carb I eat it as is.

nappa cabbage
haddock filets
1 c
soy sauce, low sodium
1 tsp
rice vinegar
1 Tbsp
ginger root slices
1 clove
garlic, minced
1 Tbsp
cooking sherry

How to Make Steamed Fish


  • 1Mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger slices, garlic and cooking sherry.
  • 2Marinate fish for 10-30 minutes.
  • 3If not using electric steamer, start the water boiling.
  • 4Arrange cabbage in steamer.
  • 5Place fish on top of cabbage and any other vegetables.
  • 6Steam fish and vegetables for 10-15 minutes, or until the fish flakes.
