This is the base for a do your own thing meal. You could use a different fish. Or add more vegetables. I often add snowpeas, sliced carrots and/or bean sproats. I used to serve it with rice but now that I'm trying to keep low carb I eat it as is.

Ingredients For steamed fish

  • 1/2
    nappa cabbage
  • 2
    haddock filets
  • 1 c
    soy sauce, low sodium
  • 1 tsp
    rice vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp
    ginger root slices
  • 1 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp
    cooking sherry

How To Make steamed fish

  • 1
    Mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger slices, garlic and cooking sherry.

    Marinate fish for 10-30 minutes.

    If not using electric steamer, start the water boiling.
  • 4
    Arrange cabbage in steamer.
  • 5
    Place fish on top of cabbage and any other vegetables.
  • 6
    Steam fish and vegetables for 10-15 minutes, or until the fish flakes.
