This is a basic N.E. recipe for fried fish that I got from my dad years ago. I serve it w/ homemade tartar sauce.

Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon each, salt & pepper
- 1 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- - oil for frying, i use canola
- 1-1/2 pound cod fillets, patted dry w/ paper towels.
How To Make new england style simple fried fish

Step 1In lg bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt & pepper. Stir in milk and egg. Stir until smooth. Let stand 20 minutes.

Step 2Heat a good amount of oil in lg deep skillet over med-high heat, until hot. Dredge fish fillets in batter, one piece at a time. Place fillets in oil.

Step 3Fry, turning once, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
