I made this one day when I had some extra shrimp and didn't know what to do w/ it. It came out so yummy. Great w/ some crusty french bread.

chopped onion

chopped celery

green bell pepper, chopped
1 tsp
minced garlic in olive oil
2 Tbsp
all purpose flour
1-1/2 tsp
chili powder
1/2 tsp
1/2 tsp
cayenne pepper
2 can(s)
diced tomatoes w/ chilis, undrained
1 c
frozen okra, thawed
1 c
1 lb
lg shrimp, peeled, deveined

How to Make Easy gumbo w/ shrimp


  • 1In lg pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion, celery, green bell pepper and garlic. Cook until veggies are tender.
  • 2Stir in flour, chili powder, salt and cayenne pepper. Cook, stirring for 1 min. Add tomatoes, okra and water. Simmer for 10 mins.
  • 3Add shrimp and cook until shrimp turn pink. Heat through.
