Creamed Shrimp on Rice or Pasta
It has been changed from the original version- this is the way my family likes it- I hope your family likes it too!!
It's easy and the sour cream, chives and lemon juice tingles on your taste buds!
Shredded cheese or French fried onions over top is an added dimension of flavor!!
8 Tbspreal butter (1/2 cup)
8 Tbspall purpose flour (1/2 cup)
2 cmilk or cream
16 ozpkg. thawed cooked salad shrimp
12 ozpkg. thawed peas
1 1/2 tspseasoned salt (lawry's)
2 Tbspchopped chives, fresh
1/4 tspgarlic powder
1/2 cdairy sour cream
2 Tbsplemon juice
·buttered toast or cooked buttered rice,or pasta
How to Make Creamed Shrimp on Rice or Pasta
- Thaw and drain shrimp and pat with paper towels; set aside. Melt butter in a saucepan and stir in the flour. Stir until smooth and blended.
Add the milk or cream and heat for 5 minutes, until smooth and thick. Add the shrimp, peas, salt, pepper, lemon juice, garlic powder,chives and sour cream; heat through. Serve over buttered rice or toast. Sprinkle shredded cheese or French onion over top, if desired.
