Creamed Shrimp on Rice or Pasta

This recipe is a remake of a recipe I found on the internet.
It has been changed from the original version- this is the way my family likes it- I hope your family likes it too!!
It's easy and the sour cream, chives and lemon juice tingles on your taste buds!
Shredded cheese or French fried onions over top is an added dimension of flavor!!

  • 8 Tbsp
    real butter (1/2 cup)
  • 8 Tbsp
    all purpose flour (1/2 cup)
  • 2 c
    milk or cream
  • 16 oz
    pkg. thawed cooked salad shrimp
  • 12 oz
    pkg. thawed peas
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    seasoned salt (lawry's)
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 2 Tbsp
    chopped chives, fresh
  • 1/4 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/2 c
    dairy sour cream
  • 2 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • ·
    buttered toast or cooked buttered rice,or pasta

How to Make Creamed Shrimp on Rice or Pasta


  1. Thaw and drain shrimp and pat with paper towels; set aside. Melt butter in a saucepan and stir in the flour. Stir until smooth and blended.
    Add the milk or cream and heat for 5 minutes, until smooth and thick. Add the shrimp, peas, salt, pepper, lemon juice, garlic powder,chives and sour cream; heat through. Serve over buttered rice or toast. Sprinkle shredded cheese or French onion over top, if desired.

    Kimmi says you could add some white wine and chopped onion to the recipe too...thanks Kimmi
