Here's my recipe for Turkey Joes, my version of "Sloppy Joes" I make with leftover turkey. (can also use leftover chicken) Easy to make and friendly on the budget. Enjoy!

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

1 Tbsp
plus one teaspoon vegetable oil
1 c
chopped onions
1 c
chopped red bell pepper
1 clove
garlic, minced
1 lb
cooked turkey (can also use cooked chicken)
1 tsp
dried oregano
salt and pepper to taste
1 lb
can diced tomatoes (reserve liquid)
4 oz
chopped mushrooms
1 Tbsp
all purpose flour

How to Make Turkey Sloppy Joes

Step-by-Step

  • 1Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions, red pepper and garlic. Cook until tender, about 10 minutes.
  • 210 minutes. Add turkey, oregano, salt and pepper. Cook, stirring, until cooked through and flavors have blended
  • 3Reduce heat to low. Add tomatoes and mushrooms.
  • 4Stir flour into reserved tomato liquid. Pour over turkey mixture. Simmer, covered, 20 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • 5NOTE: Can be served over rice, noodles or hamburger buns.
