A reason we love cooking with an air fryer is that minimal oil is required to create a crunchy coating. It helps to give the satisfaction of fried foods with fewer calories. These tender chicken nuggets are crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Poultry seasoning contains thyme, sage, marjoram, rosemary, and nutmeg which adds flavor to the breading. Serve with your favorite dipping sauces, like honey mustard or barbecue sauce. With this air fryer recipe, chicken nuggets aren't just for kids anymore.

Ingredients

  • 1-1 1/2 pounds chicken tenders
  • 1 1/2 cups Italian bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • - olive oil spray

How To Make tender air fryer chicken nuggets

  • Chicken tenders cut into pieces with tendon removed.
    Step 1
    Cut chicken tenders into smaller pieces. Remove tendons.
  • Chicken soaking in buttermilk.
    Step 2
    Place chicken nuggets in buttermilk. Soak for at least an hour (the longer the better; even overnight).
  • Preheating the air fryer.
    Step 3
    Preheat the air fryer to 390.
  • Rolling chicken tenders in bread crumbs.
    Step 4
    Mix together the Italian bread crumbs, Panko bread crumbs, and seasonings. Roll the chicken pieces in the mixture.
  • Chicken nuggets placed in air fryer basket.
    Step 5
    Spray one side of the chicken pieces in olive oil spray. Place the chicken in the air fryer oil side down in one layer. Then spray the opposite side with olive oil.
  • Partially cooked nuggets in the air fryer.
    Step 6
    Cook for 4 minutes, then flip nuggets. Cook for an additional 4 minutes.
  • Air fryer chicken nuggets in a basket.
    Step 7
    Remove from the air fryer. Sprinkle with additional salt, if desired.
  • Dipping air fryer nuggets into sauce.
    Step 8
    Serve with your favorite dipping sauces.
