One night for dinner my husand wanted me to make nachos. I had everything for it, but no taco seasoning for the meat. So, I started playing around with my spices and I came up with this recipe. And, he loved it. And now, I don't ever buy prepared taco seasoning mixes any more.

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 + teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon all spice, ground
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin, ground
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1 teaspoon oregano, dried
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper, ground
  • 2 teaspoons cocoa powder

How To Make tabatha's taco seasoning mix

  • Step 1
Combine all and store in an air tight container until needed. Occaisionally, I like to add 1-2 tsps of Chipotle chii Powder to it as well. Also, if 1 tsp of Cayenne pepper is not hot enough for you add more. Otherwise, if it is too hot, you can use 1/2 tsp for medium and 1/4 tsp for mild.
  • Step 2
For Example: 1 lb. ground beef, browned and drained Put back in pan and add 2-4 Tbsps. of the taco seasoning and 2/3 cup of water; mix. Cook on med-low for about 5-10 minutes. Stirring occaisionally. Serve on tacos or tortilla chips with toppings.
  • Step 3
You can also use this seasoning on chicken as well for chicken tacos or Quesadillas.
