Ingredients
- 3 pounds chicken, cut in serving pieces
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1 cup diced tomatoes, canned
- 4 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1/4 tablespoon dry red wine (not cooking wine)
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
How To Make slow cooked chicken in wine & warm spices

Step 1Using a heavy bottomed skillet or cast iron skillet, heat butter and olive oil. Brown chicken until golden all over; then remove from pan.

Step 2Reserving 1 tbsp. of the oil/butter mixture, saute onion until golden; then add the tomatoes, tomato paste, wine, garlic, spices and broth. Stir to incorporate the ingredients and bring to a simmer.

Step 3Add the chicken back to the skillet and turn heat to low; cover and simmer for approx. 30 minutes. Uncover chicken and simmer for another 30 minutes.
