I just love mushrooms and this is a delicious sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 pound mushrooms ; sliced
  • 3/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup sauterne

How To Make mushroom sauce

  • Step 1
    IN A 9" SKILLET OVER MED. HEAT IN HOT BUTTER COOK THE SLICED MUSHROOMS UNTIL TENDER , ABOUT 5 MIN. , STIRRING OCCASIONALLY .
  • Step 2
    STIR IN BEEF BROTH AND SALT AND HEAT THE MIXTURE TO BOILING.
  • Step 3
    MEANWHILE IN A CUP MIX CORNSTARCH AND SAUTERNE UNTIL SMOOTH ; GRADUALLY STIR SAUTERNE MIXTURE INTO MUSHROOM MIXTURE AND COOK , STIRRING CONSTANTLY UNTIL THICKENED.
  • Step 4
    SERVE MUSHROOM SAUCE HOT OVER BROILED BEEF STEAKS OR HAMBURGERS , CHICKEN , HOT COOKED GREEN BEANS OR PEA'S.
