This has been Grandma Linda's go-to recipe every year for our family Valentine's Day dinner, and is always a crowd-pleaser! We have been making it for our own families to enjoy it more than once a year. Even the pickiest of kids gobble up sweet and sour chicken.

Ingredients
- 4 pounds chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons garlic, freshly minced
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 2 cups white vinegar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 (8 oz.) can pineapple juice
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- cornstarch slurry, for thickening
How To Make grandma linda's sweet and sour chicken

Step 1Combine flour and cornstarch with seasonings. Dredge chicken first in beaten egg, then in flour/cornstarch mixture. Fry until golden brown. Then place in casserole dish.

Step 2Combine other ingredients in small saucepan and simmer over low heat, until sugar has dissolved. Once dissolved, whisk in cornstarch slurry to thicken sauce.

Step 3After slurry has been stirred in, carefully pour sauce mixture over the flour/cornstarch coated chicken breasts. Cover with foil.

Step 4Bake in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes, or a little more if needed.

Step 5Serve chicken over hot rice.
