I always get this when we get to go out and eat, but wanted to make it at home, was given this recipe (and tweeked it..lol) and it is awesome. Now I can have it when ever I want since I always seem to have the ingredients handy. My hunny loves the sauce and has me make just it to put on his veggies and rice. I like it really spicy so I add red pepper flakes to the sauce as well as when I do the step for the cooking process. I sometimes dont even take the seeds out of the dried peppers.
1Sauce: take a large jar and put in the cornstarch then the chicken broth, then add all the rest of the sauce ingredients into the jar. Shake well then place in fridge until ready to use.
2Chicken: cut chicken into bite size chunks and place into bowl. Stir in soy sauce, egg and cornstarch. Mix until well coated. Deep fry in oil (350 degrees) a few pieces at a time until crispy. repeat until all pieces are done. Place to the side.
3Heat about 1 tablespoon oil in either a deep frying pan or wok to around 400 degrees. Add green onions and seeded peppers (and optional pepper flakes) sir fry for around 30 seconds. be prepared - pepper fumes may be strong for some woth breathing problems..then shake sauce mixture and pour into pan. Cook until thick then add chicken. If too thick then add a little water to make it as thin as you want it. Serve over rice.
