Love this recipe for so many reasons. For starters no heating up the oven, it's made in the crock pot. Also, I think it's a little healthier than using pork. Finally, it just tastes great! Hope you enjoy it!

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 2 cups celery, diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 - red bell pepper, diced
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

How To Make ciao bella shredded bbq chicken

  • Step 1
    Steam chicken and cut into cubes. (You can take a short here and use store bought rotisserie too.) I like to steam mine to retain some moisture.
  • Step 2
    Combine cubed chicken and all other ingredients in a crock pot.
  • Step 3
    Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.
  • Step 4
    Stir chicken until it shreds. Serve on any kind of rolls.
