Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut in 1-inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons ghee
- 2 medium yellow onions, chopped
- 2 - garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon fenugreek and cardamom
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons berbere (or to your liking)
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 cup water
- - ground black pepper
How To Make chicken stew - ethiopian style

Step 1Drizzle the chicken with lemon juice and sprinkle with salt. Set aside.

Step 2Over medium heat, melt ghee in a dutch oven. Add onion, garlic, ginger, and spices. Saute until onions are tender, about 5 minutes.

Step 3Add water, and bring to a simmer. Add the chicken, turning to coat - return to a simmer for approximately 20 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.
