This is one of our favorite meals! We make this at least once a week! My husband and I love chicken slouvaki and used to just grill up some chicken breast and buy Greek dressing to marinate it in until we found this recipe from Cookinglight. The best thing about this meal is that its only 219 calories

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil, light
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 pound chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 4 - whole wheat pitas
  • TZATZIKI SAUCE
  • 1/2 cup cumcumber, peeled, seeded and shredded
  • 1/2 cup plain, low-fat greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

How To Make chicken slouvaki with tzatziki sauce

  • Step 1
To prepare soulvaki, combine the first 5 ingredients in a zip lock bag; seal and shake to combine. Add uncooked chicken to bag. Marinate chicken in refrigerator for 30 minutes, turning once. (You can also let it sit over night, I recommend it!)
  • Step 2
Before you grill the chicken you will want to prepare the Tzatiki sauce. For the sauce you will want to combine the shredded cucumber, yogurt, lemon juice, salt and garlic clove, stirring well. Then place it in the refrigerator until the chicken is done being grilled.
  • Step 3
Near the end of grilling the chicken you will want to place the pita's on the grill only for a few seconds on each side so that they become warm and soft.
  • Step 4
Additional ingredients to complete the salad or pita sandwich: chopped lettuce (preferably romaine) tomato red onion olives feta cheese pepperoncini peppers (if you like) You can combine everything to make a chicken slouvaki salad or pita sandwich with the Tzatziki sauce as your dressing!
