My dads recipe for the greatest gumbo!! And healthy too, because I made it w/ chicken sausage.

    boneless, skinless chicken breast cutlets
  • 1/8 tsp
  • 1/8 tsp
  • 4
    links, fully-cooked chicken sausage, cut into 1/4" slices
  • 1
    14.5 oz can diced tomatoes w/ chiles, not drained
  • 3 c
    reduced-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 c
    frozen cut okra
  • 1-1/2 c
    chopped celery
  • 1
    green bell pepper, seeded, chopped
  • 1 large
    onion, chopped
  • 1-1/2 tsp
    cajun seasoning mix
  • 1 tsp
    minced garlic
  • 1 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp
    ground thyme

How to Make Chicken-sausage gumbo


  1. Season chicken w/ salt & pepper, place in slow cooker. Add all remaining ingredients and stir. Cover, cook on high for 4 hrs, or on low for 7 hrs. Remove chicken and place in lg bowl. Shred each piece w/ fork. Return shredded chicken to slow cooker. Serve.
