My Mother In-Law taught me this recipe. She makes it all the time and her family loves it.

  • 10 stick
    celery ribs sliced
  • 1 Tbsp
    canola oil
  • 1 c
    bean sprouts
  • 4oz can(s)
    mushroom sliced drained
  • 7oz can(s)
    water chestnuts drained
  • 2 c
    cooked chicken shredded
  • 3 Tbsp
  • 1/4 c
  • 10oz can(s)
    chicken broth, condensed
  • 1/4 c
    soy sauce

How to Make Chicken Chow Mein


  1. In a large pot, saute celery in oil for about 5 minutes or until crisp-tender.
  2. Add bean sprouts, mushrooms, water chestnuts, and chicken.
  3. In a large bowl, blend cornstarch with water. When smooth, add chicken broth and soy sauce to bowl. Mix well and pour over meat and vegetables.
  4. Bring to a boil, stirring until sauce thickens.
  5. Reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer 10 to 15 minutes.
