butter, melted
1 tsp
salt
1/8 tsp
ground ginger
1/8 tsp
pepper
3 large
carrots, scraped and cut into julienne strips
1 small
onion, thinly sliced and separated into rings
2/3 c
orange juice
1 Tbsp
cornstarch
1/3 c
orange marmalade
3 Tbsp
brown sugar
1 Tbsp
lemon juice

How to Make Chicken a l'Orange

Step-by-Step

  • 1Brown the chicken pieces in melted butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • 2Combine the salt, ginger, and pepper in a small bowl; stir well, and sprinkle over the chicken. Add the carrot strips and onion rings to the chicken.
  • 3Combine the orange juice and cornstarch in a medium bowl, stirring well. Add the orange marmalade, brown sugar, and lemon juice to the orange juice mixture; stir well.
  • 4Pour the orange juice mixture over chicken and vegetables. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 45 to 50 minutes or until the chicken is done.
