There was a time when you couldn't buy BBQ sauce at the grocery store (that was before my time, admittedly) and every family had their own recipe which is why you would want to go to your neighbor's backyard barbecue, so you could try their sauce and see how it compared to your own, and the result would usually be you both tweaked your respective sauces to make them better. This is the recipe that survived through the years in my family.

Ingredients For barbecue sauce

  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    chili powder
  • 1 1/2 c
    tomato sauce
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    vinegar
  • 1/4 c
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 or 2 dash
    hot sauce or red pepper (optional)
  • garlic powder to taste

How To Make barbecue sauce

    Just add everything together, mix well and you're ready to go!
