My mom made chicken with this barbecue sauce. It was always so very good.

Ingredients

3 Tbsp
catsup
2 Tbsp
vinegar
2 Tbsp
lemon juice
slices of lemon
4 Tbsp
cold water
2 Tbsp
lea & perrins sauce
2 Tbsp
butter
3 Tbsp
brown sugar (more if desired)
1 tsp
salt
1 tsp
chili powder
1 tsp
mustard
1 tsp
paprika
1/2 tsp
red pepper

How to Make Barbecue Sauce for Chicken Or Ribs

Step-by-Step

  • 1Put all ingredients into a sauce pan and boil for 15 minutes. Allow to cool before using. (Keep unused sauce in the refrigerator.)
  • 2For Chicken or ribs: bake 15 minutes at 500°, then lower temperature to 350° and continue to bake at least 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  • 3Add the barbecue sauce during the last 20 or 30 minutes of cooking.

    On the barbecue grill, cook until nearly done, then add the sauce. It will burn easily, keep a close eye on the meat after adding the barbecue sauce.
