I love the French Onion Flavor This is a combination of 2 recipes. Hubby requested it be made again!

Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 pounds chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 1 cup onions- chopped
  • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 package lipton dry onion soup mix
  • 1 plus 2 cups chicken stock
  • 1-1/2 cup long grain rice
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese -divided

How To Make french onion chicken and rice

  • Step 1
    Cook chicken and shred. Set aside. In a large pot, melt butter on med/high heat, then add in onions. Cook onions until brown and Golden- Carnalized slightly . Add in Garlic powdercream of mushroom soup, and Lipton onion soup mix.
  • Step 2
    Add in flour. stir and cook out flour. Pour in 1 cup chicken stock. and stir until thickened some.
  • Step 3
    Secure a 13x9 pan. Grease with cookng spray. Layer bottom with shredded chicken, then evenly sprinkle dry rice over chicken.
  • Step 4
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step 5
    Pour over onion mixture slowly and evenly. Slowly add 2 more cups of chicken stock. Do not stir. Sprinkle more Cheese evenly.
  • Step 6
    Bake 45 min. , or until rice is absorbed by liquid. It should be golden and Bubbly too!
  • Step 7
    Serve with fresh vegetables or salad
